Real-time thinking

I have a problem with real-time thinking. When given a problem, I would say “I’ll need time to process that” then hide in the privacy of my own space to work on the problem.  When given a large problem, I would rather map out how to conquer the problem and squirrel away the tiny parts that require single-minded cognitive processing for later. This is a problem because sometimes the single-minded cognitive processing would provide a crucial piece in the puzzle that would reduce the overall time I need to spend on the large problem.  I need to work on this.
